For zones 1-12 these forget me nots are some of the easiest flowers to sow. For zones 1-12 these forget me nots are some of the easiest flowers to sow. For warmer zones 7-12 they will grow like an annual if sown early enough. For colder zones, or if you sow them later in spring, they will act as biennial and flower their second year.
It's best direct sow them anytime from in spring when your soil temperature reaches 70 degrees during the day. These seeds are very tiny so if direct seeding it's best to use the shaker method where you mix your seeds with 1/4 cup of dry sand and use an old spice shaker (that's clean), or other container with holes in it, to evenly disperse your seeds. Forget Me Nots need light to germinate to after sowing give them a very light dusting with peat so as to disguise them from birds. These prefer light shade and we plant them in an area that gets afternoon shade.
