Scabiosa are one of our favorite garden flowers due to how easy they are to grow and take the high heat and humidity here in zone 7. This is perennial flower for zones 3-8 and won't take the extreme summer heat of zones 9-10.
It's best start these in pots 6 weeks before your last frost in the spring. They require light for germination so press into the soil surface and do not cover. Keep slightly moist and temps should not drop below 65 degrees until germination.
You can also direct sow these in spring after your last frost, but they won't flower as heavily as those started early in pots.
These perennial scabiosa will flower in their first year but like most perennials they will take a few months after germinating before flowering.
