For all zones petunia's are best started in late winter by sowing in pots indoors and transplanting in spring. In very mild climates (zones 6 and below) you can also direct sow them in early spring. Be advised petunia's will not take high summer heat and if in hot zones it's best to start them early in pots and transplant. You can not direct sow petunia's in summer when your temperatures are in the 80's or above.
These seeds are pelletized for easy handling. When starting in pots sow on the surface of your potting soil and lightly dust with fine sand or vermiculite. Keep moist 24/7 and expose to light. Once seedlings are about ten weeks old transplant outdoors after your last frost in the spring.
If direct sowing mix your seeds with 1/2 cup of screened peat and spread on the surface of your garden bed in spring after you last frost.
