You can start these early in trays or pots about 10 weeks before your last frost or you can also direct seed in your garden after your last frost.
These need light to germinate so in pots sow on the surface of your potting material and cover thinly with sand or vermiculite. Keep moist and they can take up to 28 days before they germinate.
In the garden, after your last frost in the spring, evenly spread using the shaker method and lightly dust with a very light dusting of peat.
Ajuga prefers part shade and here in zone 7 we plant them where they get morning sun and late afternoon full shade.
