We offer flat rate combined shipping on all orders, no limit on the amount or type of seed packets.
These seeds require light to germinate and they are best started in pots, but you can sow them directly in your garden in late spring once temperatures are in the mid 70's. Here is zone 7 we like to start them early in pots and then transplant in spring so they can flower the first year and build up a root structure to withstand the summer heat.
Pre soak seeds by filling a shallow bowl, like a pie plate, with very warm tap water. Place seeds into the water and leave overnight. To sow place approximately seeds in at least an 6" pot, or if direct seeded in your garden in late spring, and cover lightly with sand or vermiculite as they need light to germinate. Keep soil moist and maintain warmth of at least 75 degrees, but don't let your soil get soggy as the seeds will rot. Seeds may require up to 21 days to germinate but usually germinate in 4-5 days under proper conditions. Once germinated the seed will send up a stalk about 1" and start to create a leaf set. At this point we will cover the seed that is on top of the soil by pushing some of the surrounding potting material to the base of the stalk.
Once your plant is 6" tall it's best to pinch to encourage bushy growth. When pinching only take the top 1" of new growth. Once in the garden, and they achieve the desired shape, they require no pruning.
Shrub and vine seeds usually have a lower germination rate of around 50%.
