Up for sale is one pack of 25 Purple Rose of Sharon (HIBISCUS Syriacus) seeds. For zones 5-10 these classic Rose of Sharon seeds create 5-10 foot shrubs that produce medium purple flowers in late spring to mid summer.

We offer flat rate combined shipping on all orders, no limit on the amount or type of seed packets.

These seeds require light to germinate and they are best started in pots. Pre soak seeds by filling a shallow bowl, like a pie plate, with very warm tap water. Place seeds into the water and leave overnight. To sow place approximately 5 seeds in at least an 6" pot and cover lightly with sand or vermiculite. Keep soil moist, but not soggy, and seeds may require up to 30 days at 70 degrees to germinate. Once germinated the seed will send up a stalk about 1" and start to create a leaf set. At this point we will cover the seed that is on top of the soil by pushing some of the surrounding potting material to the base of the stalk.

These seeds are already cold treated, but if you are not planning on sowing within 30 days of receiving them store them in the packet, inside a sealed baggie, inside your refrigerator (not your freezer). Shrub and vine seeds they usually have a lower germination rate of around 50% but Rose of Sharon can be as high at 90%.
