A quick word on black beans and nitrogen. Like other beans Black beans consumes large quantities of nitrogen as they produce the beans. One way to provide a sufficient amount is to inoculate your soil when you sow the seed, or you can amend your soil every 30 days with a nitrogen heavy compost mixture. Insufficient amounts of nitrogen will hinder the pod production.
