Up for sale is one pack of 10 Organic Howden's Pumpkin Vegetable Seeds. Pumpkins are ready to be harvested when the stem is dried out and the skin is very hard. Pumpkins should be harvested before the first frost in fall.
Companion plants are corn, beans and squash. Companion flowers are lavender, marigolds, nasturtiums, cosmos, zinnias and sunflowers.

For zones 3-12 pumpkin are a fun addition in your Organic garden and prefer full sun. These seeds can be started 4 weeks early in pots (peat pots are recommended) but we find they do best direct sown in the garden in the spring after your last frost. Plant seeds 1 inch deep, 3-4 inches apart. Thinning out to 8-10 inches. In the garden we lightly dust with screened peat to keep the birds from eating them. Pumpkin thrive in moist soil. Water from the base and not from overhead to help prevent rotting or disease on the leaves. As the vines mature, use a layer of mulch between the vines and the soil to prevent rotting.
